LEI and company numbers: what they prove (and don’t)

How LEI, company house numbers, and tax IDs help supplier verification — and why a registry hit still is not a credit guarantee.
Identifiers corroborate that a legal entity exists and often who owns the LEI record. They do not prove the website operator is that entity — or that they will deliver goods.
Match ID to the site
The useful test is consistency: does the number on the site resolve to the same name as copyright and invoice?
Never invent an ID
Thin sites sometimes omit numbers. Do not fill gaps from memory; ask the supplier for a license scan and verify it yourself.

Verify the company behind a website
Paste their URL. SupplierProof screens business identity, registries, facilities, trade signals, and reputation — not just whether the domain exists.
